Where It All Began?
Aseman was born from a vision—one rooted in heritage, hope, and the belief that Afghanistan deserves a place in the digital future.
Ferdows Sanehi, whose family is originally from Afghanistan, spent much of his life in Ireland. But with each visit back to his homeland, he became more aware of a glaring gap: Afghanistan lacked a modern online shopping experience. There was no central, multi-vendor marketplace to connect buyers and sellers—no digital infrastructure to empower local businesses and consumers.
Motivated by what he saw and fueled by a deep love for his country, Ferdows returned to Ireland determined to build a solution. He joined forces with his friend and colleague, Josh Forrest—now Co-Founder and a major investor—who shared his belief in the power of technology to solve real-world problems.
Together, they launched Aseman: a bold initiative to bring Afghanistan’s shopping experience into the digital age. More than just a marketplace, Aseman is a platform of opportunity—designed to empower Afghan entrepreneurs, create jobs, and help rebuild a resilient economy through the power of technology.
